Every wedding has its story. I have that great privilege as a wedding photographer to take part in it and retell its beauty, love, and celebration through wedding albums. Here are some pages from Jenni and Huan's wedding day. This will be a gorgeous 12x12 album.

Workshop with Joe McNally - Part 2

1 ... 2.... 3... click. Here are the images created during the workshop. Every day presented a variety of challenges...which lights to use, working under time constraints, getting the exposure right (no processing in photoshop allowed), directing the models, working in teams. It was hard and tiring, and yet it was fun, rewarding, and exhilarating.







The last day of workshop. Joe McNally turned into a magazine photo editor from The Netherworld!!! We were divided into groups and were given three hours to submit a magazine cover. Robert and I were assigned to work with Rulan, and we had to come up with a cover for a dance magazine. We used three lights for this make-believe photo cover.

Joe McNally inspires! I just came back from a week long photography workshop with him at the Santa Fe Photographic Workshop. He is not only one of the best photographers in the world but he is a first-rate teacher. Listening to his experiences, learning his lighting techniques, looking at how he goes through a photo shoot were awe-inspiring experiences.

His workshop was on location photography and lighting. Fifteen participants had a chance to work with big and small lighting setups -- from the colossal 74” octa light bank powered by a portable battery pack unit to the smallest diffuser that fits a small flash. We worked with models and were taken to different locations around Santa Fe -- Scottish rite temple, abandoned power plant, defunct prison to experiment, experiment, and experiment.

Seven years ago...

I found myself going thru my earlier wedding photographs back in the day when I lugged my film camera and about eight rolls of black and white film in my pocket. I started out as an apprentice under a special event photography company based in McLean, VA. Here is a wedding I photographed seven years ago...
